Yes, the 2005 L61 is the same as your 2003 L61.

The AEM EMS won't be any type of plug and play unit and you might actually lose out on some of your system features like airbags and things of that nature. It's a complete replacement of your stock PCM and you'd have to wire everything into the new standalone unit. They don't have one specifically for your car, so it won't be a plug and play item. Ask how much that shop is going to charge you to do an install like this.

Also, this MIGHT effect you when it comes to inspection depending on how strict they are on inspection in the state you live at.

The Haltech Interceptor is ideal for most of these applacations because you retain the stock ECU for many of the ancillory functions while the interceptor will run all of the appropriate engine functions. It is totally programable using a Windows platform. Haltech has a very comprehensive website.

i would use the aem f/ic controller. just wires into stock harness and passes every time on emissions for me in pa but no tailpipe sniffer, just obd2 reader. but that system will allow for alot of adjustment. running compound on one 2004 ion and straight turbo on other but both over 18-22 psi boost. not a problem yet and working on next turbo one now the will also keep factory ecm even using racing internals dart sleeves, sportsmen head, and cams for longer duration not much more lift. even still using stock ignition with msd booster. and induction will be gtr-35 or bigger turbo. so just an example how this system works great, and really helps with large injectors, so it idles stock, no loop like some systems. and it even adjusts timing with our crank sensor. only takes about three hours to wire up even for beginner! but do need use of laptop or close hook up to a desk top computer. but your car make your own choice, but do your home work!! good luck
