2.2 ecotec lightweight crank pulley

Not sure yet of the other options for the ecotec 2.2L but has anyone tried out customcargrills.com? They have a lightweight 2.2L crank pulley for sale. Not sure if he's coming out with a steel sleeved version of it or not, but from other sources, this is a good crank pulley. Check it out if you already haven't.

Do you have any idea how much power that pulley will free up? I like the idea of it being the same size as the factory pulley while having less rotating mass. That saves everyone the problems normally associated with aftermarket underdrive pulleys.
Just trying to let people in SC know that J-bodies aren't slow or dull.

parts like this crank pulley would only free up maybe a couple HP alone, but in conjunction with other mods, it definitely helps. It's better for more immediate revving, and less strain on the powertrain.

UR in their catalog says that "gains are obtained in two ways. First , and most important, is the weight loss. An average of 2.7 HP is gained from every pound lost off the crank shaft. 85% of our gains are from weight loss. The rest of the gains are from underdriving, which accounts for about 15% of the total gains."
So if you get rid of 3 pounds of parasitic weight from using the aluminum pulley without underdrive is about 8 HP. Looks good on paper.

Dudes,

The pulley from customcargrills really helps a lot and and light weight too!

I bought from overseas to free up my OPEL VECTRA's 2.2 ECOTEC performance!

I'm very glad you like it. I might buy one down the road but I want my car's new warranty for awhile first.

I just bought a Lightweight crank pulley from customcargrills too! It is the same pulley that mantapart charges 450 dollars for. But mantapart also offers a new belt and alt. pulley. I will let everyone know if there is much of a difference after I install it.

Hopefully after installing this pulley and my borla muffler I will be able to beat my friends 01 V6 grand am.

This is my 1st post by the way.

Easiest/first install ever. Had no problems what so ever. It did seem to help a little bit. NO huge noticable gain though (what do you expect from a pulley).

Oh btw I am talking about the customcargrills lightweight crank pulley for my 04 cavalier in case you didn't know.

Question about the install: Do you need a crank pully puller on the 2.2 or does it just slide off after you remove the crank bolt like the imports?

Mine slide right off no problem. But maybe this was because my car is only 2 months old.

I'm going to be getting the cargrills one very soon, someone else said he noticed the most gains on the highway and liked it better then the RK underdriven one he had on before the cargrills...the cargrills is not underdriven so no problems like dimming lights, etc., and it's lighter then the RK one.
