chassing power in a 3.8L ecotec (Holden VS)

Hey guys,
l'm new to the site and l'm all the way from Australia! Anyway, l thought
l might get some "different" help from you guys seeing we share a
similar engine. As the title reads, l have a 3.8L ecotec and at the
moment its pretty stock. Here is a photo of the engine bay now:

What my plans are to get rid of the maf sensor l have there and replace
it with a map sensor from the buick motors (they were in the model before
my commodore) which allows me to take the throttle body off the side
and smooth it over and then to mount a four barrel throttle body
ontop of the plenum chamber. Then l will get a custom cam done to suit
the extra air flow.

What my question is, is there anything you guys do to gain even more hp?
I want to stay clear of turbos or s/c as l like a n/a car. I'm thinking about some
bigger injectors (35 lbs instead of 30 lbs) but after that l have no idea.

I may aswell post some pics of the car aswell, since you guys don't get to see
and commodores, here in australia, they are one of the most common cars!

Thanks in advanced guys!!

sweet car. you guys get all the cool cars. unless youre current injectors are saturated, you dont need larger injectors. the PCM will just trim back the pulse width and youll end up where you started.

id bet an intake pipe and t/b might be a nice start. if you wanna do internals, i suppose you might go with heads/cam. depends on your power goals and how much you want to spend.

Gavin, Welcome Mate! However the Aussie version "Ecotec" name although its been used by Holden for years, Is not the same engine in terms of the V6.

The Aussie V6 Ecotec is actually GM America's 3800 Series I and Series II engine. The 90 Degree v6.

Like Greg has posted to for the links those sites are actually based on that engine.

You'll find other great sources of info for that engine at forums for Grand Prix GTP's and "Wbodies"

I drove a commodore similar to yours one time while In oz. I'd love to import a Clubsport R8 or something over here. I drove a VY cluby R8 when over there. Was awesome.
