I got some custom cams for my car last week, which I put in, and had dyno tested the next day. The car feels MUCH quicker, all over the powerband, and the dyno backs it up too. I gained 15 hp to the wheels from my "experimental grind" cams, no loss of power ANYWHERE in the power band, and an average gain of 15 hp from 3800-5400 rpm. Torque is also way up, from about 139 lb ft at 4250 rpm stock, to 155 lb ft at 3800 rpm. These are sick cams, even as low as 2450 rpm, there is a solid gain of 4 hp, and 9 lb ft of torque. The guy doing the grind obviously knows what he's doing, and I think the stock ecotec is way undercammed also. Also, the A/F ratio with the cams is dead flat at 14.4, so the ecu is obviously able to adapt, and there is NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT so far. (fingers crossed) This is a wicked grind, probably as far as can be done on a stock cam regrind, I would think. The idle has a bit of a lope to it, nothing major though. SWEET. I'm loving it. The lower two hp curves are without cams, the higher two are with, same goes for the torque curves. Now, I am dying to do my header/full mandrel 2.5" exhaust, but I may wait to test some even wilder cams, that will have to be ground on GM Performance blank cams.
The a/f is nearly identical with the cams, the ecm adapts well. The only other mod I have is an AEM CAI. If you're interested in these cams, contact this guy claytonbell78@hotmail.com, I'm testing the cams for him and his business partner.

The cams are a custom experimental grind, and I don't have the specs. The guys setting up the business don't want any competitors with this same grind, although I am sure it will be copied eventually. As far as I can tell, the grind takes the stock cam to the limits, any wilder would have to be done on cam blanks. It doesn't have huge lift, but there is an increase, the main increase is in duration. This grind is probably friendlier to the stock lifters for wear and tear than the stock cams, considering they have some weird concave profile on the stock cams. The cams do lope slightly at idle, but as you can see, there is no typical loss of low end power from high performance cams. These are great in a daily driver, and will probably boost gains from other bolt ons. For example, when I get my header/exhaust done, that should free up a bunch of power on the top end. they are the levelzero cams... they do throw codes and i dont think anyone got the 15 horsepower claimed
Doesn't matter what after market cams you go with, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE ECU RETUNED FOR THEM.
Especially on a speed density system, if you haven't had your check engine light go off yet, it will.
