They changed the part number for the filter and cap. Its 12580254 it looks like they changed the cap a bit.Its a little lower profile and the socket size changed.(smaller).It also looks like there are more threads on it but I may be wrong there.Just an FYI I got it for 10 and change.
So where is the oil filter at?..i havent looked for it but i was just wondering?..is it the black cap that you guys are talking about that has like a 25mm nut on it?
Yeah its under there. Its a 1 1/4 " socket.

hey guys i got an o3 sunfire, i dont use a socket to take that cap off i use a plumbers faucet wrench. it works for me and the handle will not allow enough torque to break it.
Wow! That oil filter seems almost too easy to get too... Doing my first change today on my '04, Mobil 1 synthetic of course.
hey i just got a 2002 w the ecotec i just changed the oil but couldnt find the filter so i just changed the oil....are these filters good enough to go over 3000 miles?
