How do I remove the back seat in my car?
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 9:07 PM
Hey I am trying to remove the back seat in my 01 cavalier 2dr without ruining it. Im doing this for temporary weight reduction and so i can put in a custom speaker mounting kit in its place and possibly a nitrous system. I've seem to figure out a possible way of doing it but it might cause it to break or ruin it if I may be wrong. Can anyone tell me a general step by step on how to do this?

It's simple, the bottompart of the seat just pulls up with a quick jerk. There are 2 clips on the bottom about 20 inches in from the edge on each side. Just pull up and then out, and the seat bottomwill be removed. The back is held on by 4 13mm nuts that hold the metal support bracket on. Remove those, and the seat should come free. Don't forget about releasing the fold-down levers to let the back of the seat come forward.

Weight reduction? Why? Leave it in till you get the stuff to put inplace of it. It doesn't even weight 10lbs probally. I just don't see the point in making your car look like crap without it helping anything. It's not going to make it any faster.
