ok guys whats our valve cover made of? and what can i use to shine it up i just got a dremel tool and want to put it to use
if your talking the cam cover the silverpart , its aluminum
and i used scochbrite pads in different grades , along with mothers polish ,and hte g/fs came out nice for leaveing on the motor

yes it can be polished i got an extra ecotec motor in a crate and im taking any polishable parts to my buddy a bandio's polishing and hes putting some shine to em ill post pics if remember to bring my digi cam next time i go
i just took mine off the other day to poolish it, i would recomend 97cavie25ls's way, i sanded on mine for a few hours before i didnt regret taking it off. then i wet sanded it before i took it to my boss at work so he could finish it up for me kuz he has all the tools to polish it, ill post pics when i get it back <br>

start with 400 grit sand paper ,sand evenly ,work your way up too 1500 grit then go to 2000 ,wet sand at 800 and up.its very time consuming but it will pay off ! i did mine on the car it took three days of work(couple hours at a time)but it turned out nice. <br>

i had to do the same thing with my clucht resor.
and i definatley have to paint my valve cover silver to match the car..
or maybe a polishs also...

i zip tied my clutch @!#$ to the peice that sticks out and has a circle in it where the stock intake went into
some one could make a bracket to hold those damn thing on ,id buy one.
AEM sell a clutch resivor bracket , they are in the 20-40 dollar range

Nachotec, how did you polish yours up like that? I tried to polish mine up by hand, but it doesn't come close to that. I used two grades of sand paper, and the finer grade is like leather almost (I don't remember the grades), but after that I even wet-sanded so much, and it still came out dull. The eagle aluminum polish I used does a decent job of making it less dull, but nothing to the effect of chrome like yours is. How'd you do it?
2 grades of sand paper isnt gonna cut it. i have a lot of sanding time in that. if u want it done real good u will have to take the valve cover off, its the only way to get it all. started with 400, 800, 1000, wet sanded with 1200. the rest of it was finished by a friend. if u have a dremel they make polishing kits for it, u could use that after the sanding.

ok thanks. Is the valve cover hard to take off though? Like, when you remove it, is it just a cover or do you have to remove things inside of there as well. Let's just say I never removed it before, so I don't know what is all under there.
When you remove the top cover that attaches to your spark plugs, all you have to do is remove the 15,000 (not really) 10 mm bolts and the cover will lift right off...

ok thanks, so your saying though that when the cover comes off, there won't be anything internal that have to cover up, will there be?
Also, do I need a new cam cover gasket or anything, or am I worrying too much?
