Engine swap

Hi,
Just joined, here's one that I haven't seen yet. Just starting to gather info on the Ecotec engine/drivetrain, to do an engine swap in my '90 Consulier... (I know, what's that? It was a car manufactured in Florida late 80s-early 90s, now known as Mosler Motorsports ie: MT900) The existing engine is a 279hp(dyno'ed at the crank) 2.2 l Chrysler from a LeBaron and is a nightmare to maintain with a Getrag 555 5-speed transaxle. I would like to get something around 275 reliable hp on pump gas that is as good on the track for roadracing track days as well as a 150 mile commute to work. Any ideas? I want to stay away from Honda/Nissan etc, looking for what would work best, turbo or new 2.0 supercharged, and any problems with taking front drive train and putting it out back as this is how the Chrysler was used in the Consulier. (ie: shift cable, rods? etc.)
