Broh, if yer only getting 180 miles to a tank, your mileage is somewhere around 13 MPG! If your numbers are correct you def have something wrong! I'm a new owner of an 04 Ecotec Cavvy, and I'm getting around 30 MPG and over 400 miles to a tank.

Yeah thats definitely way off or you only floor it to accelerate. I have an auto and do mostly city driving (lots of stop signs and hills) and get around 26. With a manual you should see a little more depending on your driving style. The next time you fill up zero your odometer and run it until you need to fill up again, then take the miles you drove and divide by the number of gallons you put in and theres your mpg.

i get 225-280 a tank. 18.5-21 MPG. auto(for now). lead footed. compression check 185 PSI. L61 03 cav ls sport 2dr

do what [matt] said and if its not any different try cleaning your fuel system cause thats BAD expecialy for a car with your mileage.

how are you people getting 400 miles a tank? thats all highway miles isnt it? thats the only way ive come close

Listen F***ers. FASTERTHANAHONDA is a joke because I WORK FOR HONDA. I'll talk @!#$ about Fords to, that doesn't mean I can beat a 12 second mustang.

My car is an auto factory and custum options loaded. Also, here in Puerto Rico we have a lot of hills and mountains giving us less opportunity to save on gas but never get less than a 26mpg average. I have calculated mpg a lot of times and always get from 25 to 32 miles per gallon. Recently, I installed the Scan Gauge II and it shows a very wide variable range related to mpg. On a highway up hill it could go down to 12-15 mpg but of course, down hill it will go over a hundred. In a leveled part of the highway it will show a steady range betwen 30 to 36 mpg. It's giving to me around 350 tp 400 miles per tank so, going to the begining of this topic, 180 miles per tank means a big trouble in place. Because this was started a while ago, I hope he could fix the problem already. I think the problem was in the engine management system or over the gas pedal (his foot). RFOGALX, if you found or fix it let us know.

i'm a lead foot and get 22MPG or so in an 05 sunfire with a 4spd which isn't bad considering my old honda with a 1.6L got 26MPG with a 4spd auto and only weighed 2000lbs with me in it not to mention the sunfire is faster

My wife's 03 Sunfire automatic is getting about 27mpg average with freeway and inner city.
We did a road trip with it at 70mph on cruise control and got 37mpg.

My 07 Cobalt LS automatic currently has 31.3mpg as the average.
This is freeway and inner city mixed driving.
I do not do too many passing gear moments and do mostly steady speed on the freeway.

I will note that my wife's mpg on her 03 Sunfire went down 1 mpg after I got the cold air intake.

2003 Sunfire with 2 1/4 inch turbo muffler, 2 1/4 piping, 2 1/2 inch resonator, a 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter, 2 1/2 inch down-pipe, a 4:2:1 RK Sports 'clone' header, E-bay strut brace, ground wire kit and an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition.

When it comes to mileage, my 04 Cavy could go from Baltimore to Buffalo, NY on a single tank...and have gas to spare. The mileage on them are fantastic. It makes me sad GM never capitalized on the mileage performance of the Ecotec years ago instead of now.

Where is the oil pan drain plug located on my 05 Cavalier ECO
RE: oil pan plug

Rear of the oil pan on the passenger's side. Tip: If you are only going to jack up one side of the car, jack up the driver side so all the oil moves to the passenger side where the drain plug is.

hmmmm, never thought of doing that. thanks for the tip tinkles.

but now i have no excuse to have a smoke break while the oil drains.

I get about 350 - 400 km a tank in my 05 cobalt with k&n typhoon intake obx headers and muffler welded on to stock pipe.... is that about right or pretty @!#$ty?
RE: oil pan plug

Do the damn math guys. Its not hard. Fill the tank till the gas pump clicks, set your trip od, then fill up again until it clicks then divide miles by gallons. I get 28-30 with the blower in it. And I run around 80 on the highway, drive like a jackass, and have the stock exhaust so I make boost by just barely touching the throttle.
