cobalt ls/eibach springs

i want to lower my 06 cobalt ls but havent decided between the eibach pro-kit or sportline kit springs. at belle tire they told me i wouldnt need new struts to go with the springs, but thats not what people on this site are saying. how do i know which part number struts to get? is the installation of springs/struts something i could do myself? thanks.

With the Pro-Kits, they say they test them on the stock strut/shock setup BUT that doesn't necessarily mean that your ride will be the same as if you were stock. You're shortening the distance for the strut to travel and absorb. This is why people "bottom out", their absorbing system is doing just that, absorbing. It's a rule of thumb that if you're shortening the distance for your strut/shock to travel, you should change them to a strut/shock that is able or made to handle such a vehicle drop.

There aren't alot of choices you guys have for struts/shocks. It's actually far and few in between for most domestic 4 cylinder cars. Last I heard is that Koni was making a set for the SS/SC but from my understanding, you could use them if you wanted to...I'd double check on that though. Other than that, there isn't anything that I've come across. Typically KYB makes a set of AGXs that can handle a mild drop (example: Pro Kit) but there isn't anything for the Delta guys just yet.

If you have the right tools, yes, you could do the installation yourself.

Overall, if you want the looking lowered and don't care how terrible your ride quality is, go for it but I personally would wait especially from my previous experiences.

Hope this helps.

i got the pro kits 1.4 drop on my 4 door. front is ok but rears bottom out really easy you will more than likely need to get struts and they will hell with the crapy ride (like i have). for install really all you need is a spring comressor and a little bit of knowlage and you should not have a problem. when i did mine i did not even need an alignment after. an the ride height is not alot of a difference when you just look at the car you will notice when you go to get in for the first time.

i have an 06 cobalt too and i just got full my whole suspension re-did...i got the eibach pro kit and eibach struts...also got the camber kit so my tires dont get messed up and dont loose handling...i was kinda disapointed with the front drop but the back is nice..i would go with all new struts the sport kit and a camber kit and new bushings.

the eibach struts you mentioned...are you talking about the pro-damper kits? I don't see one listed for the cobalt on eibach's website. do you have any more information on this? thanks.
