EcoTec Desert Racing!

I'm a new guy to Eco tec's and Desert Racing.
There is a class that is using stock sealed "eco-tec" power plants exclusively (2.2's and 2.4's)

Anyway being that I'm new I've put about 400 miles on the car (that now has about 2500 miles on it, between racing and testing the last 2 years). I've got the 2.4VVT
I've never once had any issues with the engine. yesterday i was out testing and the engine started missing and then just quit on me. the engine has never been able to rev over about 3500rpm. i'm not sure about much on these engines.
the water temp is good and oil pressure was good as well.
the engine started back up but was missing badly the whole way we limped it back to the trailer.
i found a small amount of oil coming from the o-ring (or seal) that the hold down bolt for the coil pack runs through.
i'm changing both fuel filters today and check the fuel pressure to see if that might be creating an issue.

my questions are what are the stock engines "red-lining" at? what might be causing the oil to weep in that spot? (i changed the CC breather and the problem persists)

thanks for the help guys!

Mike
