Weight of Engine Parts
Sunday, April 24, 2005 6:43 PM
Anyone know where I could find out the weights of various ecotec engine parts? For example, LS1 heads weigh 20.8 lbs apiece, blocks weigh 107-109 lbs, and cranks weigh about 40 lbs. I'd like to know where I could find the weights of equivalent parts on the ecotec.

Thanks in advance.

I know for sure the stock crank is 40 lbs (mine is currently being lightened and balanced by my machinist to 30 lbs), and the stock block (stripped of all parts) is about 70 lbs.

I don't know the weight of the head, but I can get that info for you when I go pick up my crank.

I can get more weights for you if you need it. Or NY J-bodies may have that info. They have every other bit of info about this great motor.

Hope this helped!

Any news on the weight of the head? I found out that the honda/acura B18 head's shipping weight is listed as 60 lbs. That includes valves and springs but not cams or followers.
