2002 Saturn L-100 2.2L Ecotec

hey guys. i was wondering what cheap performance upgrades are avalilable for my car.
2002 Saturn L-100 S.E. 2.2L Ecotec

i found some like the Tornado supercharger for $89.99 that spins in the intake and another one similar to that one but is electricallly powered. in the ad it says the electric powered one can add 1 p.s.i. of boost. now I'm not real good with car stuff so how much of a boost is 1psi as in hp/tq or how much of difference it will make.

thanks! any help with this would be great

Don't waste your money on the "Tornado".

Figure out what you want out of your car before spending any money.

well, i was thinking about doing a custom exhaust on my car because it zig-zags all under the car, has a huge stock resonator/cat and huge stock muffler. if i made a custom exhaust, pratically a straight pipe, how much power/acceleration would i gain? also if i upgraded the flywheel how much of a difference would it make?

what i want out of my car is 200hp. 200lbs/tq. that is my goal. if i reach that or go over i will be very satisfied. so basically i only need to add about 50-60 hp and same in torque only thing ive done is put a K&N air filter in the stock intake box. and it made a little difference but not enough. any simple upgrades to gain power would be best. i don't want to have to take the engine apart i just want to add bolt ons or something as simple as a racing chip to improve power.

Ive seen ads for a Tri-Phase module that people have said gave them a lot of difference. this is the site that offers them. http://www.nextlevelracing.com/

Oh, i almost forgot, Ive also seen the B&M Shift Improver. how much of a difference does that make? Ive considered trying it because of its price of only $45.00. i figured it cant hurt to try it out.

It's going to take alot more work to reach that power goal than bolt on modifications.

You can't chip a OBDII computer. That module you were posting looks...like a waste of money. I believe HP Tuners is now supporting the L-series guys now. Check them out. It's a actual PCM Programmer www.hptuners.com

Changing the flywheel would help power wise but it will probably change the characteristics of your driving abilities.

A B & M Shift Plus will help a little bit. It helps by increasing the line pressure in your transmission. Downside is that it has to be hard wired in to work.

how much power would i be able to gain from using the HP Tuners product?

ok so, if i did a custom 2 1/4" straight exhaust with a magnaflow muffler and high-flow cat, added the B&M Shift Plus, put a CAI on and new flywheel how much of a difference/power gain would it be?

You're asking a question that no one can answer.

Your power gains depend on alot of things and even if I did the same exact thing you did, I couldn't still say you will gain the same amount of power as I did. There are alot of variables in between. Easiest way to find out is just by doing it.

HP Tuners is a computer programmer. What you change can be very critical to whether you gain power from adjusting fuel trims or ignition timing (for example) or it can cause a major issue if you do something incorrectly.

Ok, actually i have another question.

My transmission has 57,700 miles on it and i was wondering if the B&M Shift Plus product will mess it up or break it before the 100,000 mark. I have driven it pretty hard since i got it when it only had around 22,000 miles on it. Any help or experience with this product on your own car would be great help.

It won't mess anything up as long as it's installed properly. You'll be fine.

if you have an auto, no flywheel. you have a fexplate (or driveplate if you are so inclined) weighs f*** all anyhow. Can't do anything with that.

You could get a GM s/c kit (m62) and then use HPT to make it run right. I believe you have the 9.5:1 compression ratio motor then you could possibly get away with a little more boost than the 10:1 motor. Don't know what sort of internals that thing has though.

That's you est bet for your goal, you need 65hp by my count for 200 brake the 9.5:1 motor is 135hp.

lol I didn't realize that he had automatic when I made that flywheel comment...which is dumb cause he asked about the B & M Shift Plus.

Yeah, I goofed up lol
