Wednesday, March 10, 2010 9:20 PM
As the title reads I have an 03 satunr ion witha 2.2L ecotech(L61)

My Power Goals are 175-220 WHP N/A No force feeding!!

I've been looking at parts and i've compiled a list

GM Racing Dual Valve Springs with Ti Retainers, Spring Seats & Valve Stem Seals

GM Racing Stainelss Steel Intake & Inconel Exhaust Valve Set .5mm Oversize

Comp Cams Ecotec N/A Stage III Cams

GM Racing Adjustable Cam Gear Set

Cometic 2.2L L61 Ecotec 87mm Head Gasket .040

Eagle Forged H-Beam Connecting Rods

GM Racing Neutral Balance Shaft Set

Wiseco Forged Pistons 10:1CR .020 Overbore

Head Stud Kit

My Questions

1. Tuning Is it possible? Will i be abnle to do it with in my power goals?

2. Injectors? Do i need them?

3. Trans WIll it grenade? I don't plan on drag racing more of a street prowler and a weekend tracker

4.From what i've read my crank shaft is more then strong enough to handle my power goals Is this true?

5. Head porting

6. Intake manifold options? Perhaps ITB's?

7. How much is a good price for a full engine block form a junk yard?

Also, the F23 trans is the smae for cavies 02-05 right?

With that being said would the Same LSD and Axiles work on my saturn? I'm pretty sure on the LSD the Axiles not so much...

As far as the computer i believe I've answered my own question about it It seems i would need to go aftermarket

I'm looking at the e-Manage Ultimate

Any Suggestions or alternatives?

Also any info for the location of the ecu wirring diagram? I found a stick on it this subject but the webiste was parked.

Stock bore size for the piston would be best. The block is aluminum and uses sleeves, so the stock bore size is always a better bet for safety reasons.

For the intake manifold, I would use the 2.4 intake manifold from Crate Engine Depot. I believe is was a little over 200 bucks but worth it from what I understand.

Other than that everything looks like you could have good strong setup. I would not use the E-manage system. I would use the stock computer and get it dyno tuned. The Emanage is great for Japanese cars as thats what its marketed for. I thought I head somewhere that someone had used it on a cobalt, but hadnt heard anymore than that. So I highly recommend getting a dyno tune or a Trifecta street tune.

Here's what you need for your power goal.

-LE5 block
-LE5 pistons
-Custom length rods 155.74mm
-LSJ crank

extras:
-external trigger wheel
-GM trans spacer p/n 12583853
-LSJ clutch
-LSJ flywheel
-custom made 12mm longer rods (155.74mm)
-IF block has integrated oil cooler, you need the external oil cooler adapter in order to use the L61 thermostat housing. more information at the bottom of the post)

Makes for 2.1 litres and a great rod to stroke ratio.
Custom sheet metal intake manifold
Custom header
Custom ground cams, maybe go with hollow billet cams
Solid lifters (gonna need to rev north of 8 grand to make that kind of power na)
balance shaft delete
78 lb supertech valve springs
custom ported head and +1mm valves, some sort of hollow ultra light weight valve

Should cost in the 10 grand area.
Could make the same power with WAY more torque for 2 grand or less with the mp62 blower kit.

For tuning since the computer isnt supported by hp tuners (is it by efi live though?) I would go with the new AEM unit that just came out, supposedly the cats pajamas. Otherwise a Haltech S1000 would be great for you.
