What exactly are the differences here?
I realized that the compression, etc.
I guess what I am really asking is...... Why can't the s/c from the 2.0 ecotec be used on the 2.2 ecotecs?
As far as I can tell from most pictures is that the engines are pretty damn similar.
Anyone?
im also interested in knowing this if anybody knows. im considering putting the s/c off the cobalt into my cav.
The 2.0 is a SAAB-developed engine with stronger conrod and pistons. The 2.2 bore x stroke is 86 x 94.6 mm compared to the 2.0 bore x stroke is 86 x 86 mm (from my memory). But it would prolly work to fit equipment from the 2.0 to the 2.2. Think flanges etc are the same. The flywheel i 6-bolt on the 2.0 and 5-bolt on the 2.2 tho.
Just added more confusion to this I´m afraid..............
The hardware will bolt on, engine management could be tricky, though.

the s/c can be bolted directly on but due to different ecu's, it will not run as smooth as the factory 2.0. also the 2.0 has piston cooling oil squirters, 2.2 does not
