I believe the piston rings are warn! Check out my other posts and that video I posted. Another thought I'm investigating is a semi plugged cat causing the normal blow by gases not to escape past the piston rings and pulling oil up in the combustion chamber. I'm sure their is a better way to explain that. Listen to your exhaust it may tell that tale. Oh ya If I knew what I know now I would get rid my ecotec powered car.

George, what year and how many miles? This sounds like a headgasket issue with coolant and oil loss, but HG's usually are not a concern on an Ecotec. You'd need to to a leak-down test and compression test to troubleshoot further.

First off, time is not an accurate gauge to use for oil loss. you have to go by mileage. 1 quart in 2,000 miles is acceptable for an engine with under 50000 miles that isnt driven competively or at sustained high speed.

Compettive driving and long runs at high speeds WILL burn more oil.

If youre not seeing any visible smoke its unlikely youre burning any excessive amounts of oil.

Check your intake tubes and air filter to make sure you arent purging oil into them because of a clogged PCV system, also make sure the hose on the passenger side of the cam cover is securely attached to the air intake.
