Thanks 97, and I plan on routing some sort of DIY cold air, so the AEM is out of the question in that aspect. Time is something spent wisely IMO, thats why I asked.
I just wanted to know how it fit to avoid wasting it. Thanx again.
Type Z- thanx also, that was the other setup I was considering.

'03 ION QC 3 5spd
with ram air intake and progress springs.

15.69 at 88.9 mph
this time was done with a g-timer on a back road near kalamazoo so i dont know how accurate it is with all the track times, but i assume it is about right.
i want to take it to the track when it gets warm again.

plus there was a good amount of wheel spin on the stock tires (that suck IMO), hopefully my other tires will do better in the spring.

Hey everyone, I'm new here so I just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Jay and Im the proud owner of a 2003 Sunfire. I'm waiting on my RKsport WAI! As for times, I've run a best of 15.83@87 stock. I put a Ravin performance muffler on a few weeks ago and my time dropped to 15.59@88! I didnt think mufflers had that much affect! I'll post my times as soon as I install my intake! Nice to be here! <br>

allright i owned a 95 Grand Am with a new 3.1 an intake and muffler and i got beat by a 95 GA GT w/ dual magnaflows so i got me a new 05 cavalier 5 sp. So heres the question...can i beat him?....p.s. i hear his best time was only 17.2 in the 1/4
Re: stock ECOTEC times
Tuesday, November 02, 2004 8:28 PM
Yeah i think you can beat him, My last car was 94 Grand Am GT with the 3100 SFI with a dual axel-back exhaust and WAI. I have an 03 5 spd and i def. think the cavi would take my old car, speaking of which i think i'm gonna call the kid i sold it to and ask him if he wants to run me.....
Re: stock ECOTEC times
Tuesday, November 02, 2004 9:34 PM
lol..i thought i could too because i drove my grand am the other day and was like dang this thing feels slugish..because his friend told me that his best time was only a 17.2 and i find this website and see that you guys are running low 15's stock and 13's with a 75 shot and was really amazed ..so i feel i made the right decision about getting a cavalier
Re: stock ECOTEC times
Thursday, November 04, 2004 7:49 PM
17.2??? wow that's pretty bad. according to n-body.org, that year with the 3100 should run about mid to low 16 with a good driver. now if it was the 2.3 HO GT than that would def. beat an eco, they run consistant low 15s with a good driver and came with 180 or 190 hp, but went down each year until 95 when they were about 150-155 . have no clue why they would do that

And yes you did make the right decision getting a cavi
Re: stock ECOTEC times

2.3 HO eh?... i never heard of those..i thought i was somewhat close to an expert on n-bodies but i only new them to come with the Quad 4 which i hear was almost a bigger pile of junk then my 3.1 ...i see alot of people have G-Tech meters...how accurate are they>?

dont think those mods could lose you over too seconds can they?
Re: stock ECOTEC times

He gutted the whole car, short throw shifter, new clutch, those alone will make you accelerate a second faster. The throttle body and CAI aren't anything to sneer at either.

You probably have, what 165-180 at the wheels, thats being conservative too, right Tom?
Re: stock ECOTEC times
Sunday, November 07, 2004 8:31 AM
^^^u obviously have no clue what ur talking about. there is no way in hell he has 165-180 whp with those mods.
