You raise minimum wage and less people can afford to live off it and slightly higher saleries. Rent goes up, just about everything you can buy goes up, and the more you make the more you spend for the exact same things.
^^^ Ever heard of inflation? It's the idea that things get expensive on their own, minimum wage isn't even poverty level.
Basic necessities don't go down in price, rent is indexed to go up as well because utilities go up yearly as well. Bringing minimum wage up to something approaching poverty level or just above maybe isn't a bad thing, ever.
