Legalize prostitution?
Saturday, March 28, 2009 8:12 AM on j-body.org
Why is it illegal in the first place?
How is someone in porn different from someone on a street corner?

I'm assuming it's simply a religious/moral issue, since I don't get it, lol.

yeah, its a religious thing. personally i dont see why to NOT allow it. after all, a woman can give it away for free (and they do constantly) but they cant charge a five spot for it? retarded.

Most women do it one way or another anyways. Prostitution is just getting straight to the point. But I'm not in a hurry to pick up an STD from some ugly crack whore on the corner, thanks... but no thanks LOL. Then again, this could happen with any girl who gets around too much. Ditto with males.

BTW it is legal but regulated in Nevada Women involved are required to get regular check-ups etc. Seems to the be common sense approach anyways.

I can't think of any GOOD reason it should be illegal. Just another completely unnecessary law for government to tell you how to live your life.

it should be legal and regulated by the government, just like the way nevada does it. mandatory check-ups, taxable pay, etc.

prostitution is illegal because you cannot tax it. just like drugs. if you could tax it, it would be legal. the government cant get money from it therefore they make illegal.

check nevada. the whole "you cant tax it" thing is just a bs excuse made up to make it sound like there is a legitimate reason for not allowing it. but when it comes down to it, its really just a perceived morality issue...

Its probably more of a health issue than a morality issue. Its encourages the spread of disease. If you were to look at pandemics of syphallis etc youll find that legallized prostitutes are the major vector for these dieases.

One guy walks in gives the hooker syphallis. Now she has it. She spreads it to 25 more clients. They spread it to more hookers or someone who isnt and the disease is infinitely multiplied within a day.

If you don't want to take a risk, stay away from the brothel, or wrap your stuff up good. Nevada requires periodic testing, which I would expect to greatly curb the chances of contracting anything from a legit hooker.
Considering how sexually open modern society is, your chances of contracting all kinds of nasty @!#$ may actually be greater playing in the free market.

no...pandemics of stds are not mainly from hookers. they are from sexual promiscuity of all sorts, mainly the open populace. of the few places that do legally allow prostitution, they have checks (usually monthly) for everything. its a morality issue, plain and simple.

There are several STD's that can be spread long before a monthly check would reveal it. The level of ignorance when it comes to STD's in this country is alarming!

Lets take Herpes for example. There is no way to tell positivly if somone has it through a blood test. The only way a person kows they have it is if they go to the doctor while they have the outbreak and the doctor swabs the infected area and sends it to a lab.

That is just Herpes don't get me started on HIV or any of the others.

with a prostitue you wear a condom. with the girl you just met at the bar you think, gee she looks like a nice girl doesnt seem dirty i'll just bang her this once. poof you have hiv. the legal brothels practice safe sex where as people at the bars dont. there are some women out there that have just as much sex as prostitues im sure and have never had a test for an std. diseases is not the issue. its the whole morality issue of it, hell me sitting behind my desk at work for 8-10 hours a day is me selling my body for money.

You can still transfer STDs even with safe sex. Thats why they tell you in health class that there is no "safe" sex.

WTF seriously? LOL...

I guess that you can still get crabs using a condom....... or maybee herpes if your really really really unlucky.....

But the real reason they tell you that in health class is because they dont want you to have sex and they are tying to scare you.

well, im taking law right now, and prostitution isn't actually "illegal" its just the selling for money, thats the illegal part, so technically, you could say, if you have sex with me, i'll come clean your house for a week, or here take this teddy bear and lets go have sex. the only illegal things of prostitution is the selling it for money and the soliciting

But wouldn't any compensation for a sexual act be considered prostitution?
