I used El Guapo's technique on my valve cover and what a difference! Thanks for the tip! I need to do it a few more times but it beats the idea of having to remove that thing hands down. Also, El Guapo, I posted a question about removing the factory air intake. Think you could tell me how difficult it is to remove that "bong" in the fender-well from when you installed your AEM CAI?
I went to my local tuning shop and was going to purchase my AEM CAI, but they called their distributor and they said it was recalled for the ecotec...

I believe only the first maybe 200 CAI had a "defective" plenum that was recalled.

The new ones are good, if you got one of the first batch made, just call AEM
and tell them they'll send you the replacement plenum.

Mine is on the way!

Cool, Has anybody heard anything about the Induction Dynamics CAI? Or does anyone have it? I like how it goes directly to the Throttle Body, even though it probably doesn't make a difference. http://www.induction-dynamics.com

I think i may have you beat, El Guapo...

I have/had the RK WAI and made it into a CAI. I also added 0 bends in the process... should be a little free-er (is that a word?) than the AEM one you are rockin

uh oh! uh oh! uh oh!

I've seen some people make their RK WAI into a CAI by adding an extension on the JBO... like this one but I could only get the sig! bah here it is:

maybe you could provide a pic for those that may want to do the same?

I'm not trippin though, I got my AEM for $Free.99
so whos got who beat?
ah just playin bro, I know you'll be gettin alot more free stuff than me REAL soon

No, I still havent gotten my gauges in yet.

And quite literally, I turned my intake 90 degrees down and just removed the wiper fluid reservoir. I know most people won't be interested in doing that... a small extension on it and the filter fits like a glove And with the new kit coming on, it should throw the air to the filter pretty nicely...

Really? sounds coo, I'd like to see that.

at least its colder than the air you were getting

good stuff

I got a weapon r intake on mine with the ram air kit and the sheild around the filter but i took the sheild off cuz i thought it would be too restrictive trying to suck all that air through just that "dryer hose" lol but now its not getting strictly cold air it still has the hose going up to the end of the filter but it also gets the warm air from the sides of the filter.

Anyone have knowledge of what would be better? sheild on or sheild off
Re: Cold Air Intakes

well the shield is there to "shield" the filter from sucking in warm air
from the engine.

Like a heat shield

they do the same on big truck intakes
I've seen 'em on Sierra's and Sonoma's....

i know that but it would also restrict the airflow to only getting air from the front of the filter and on the front of the filter is the "dryer hose" that runs down in the fender to the front of the car underneath the licesnce plate were the scoop is to catch the air....

Re: Cold Air Intakes

well then its doing it's job!

by restricting the airflow to only getting air from the front of the filter where
the "dryer hose" shoots Cold 'RAM' Air from the front of the car
underneath the license plate where the scoop is catching the air
SO, you're getting maximum performance from the intake...

The colder the air the BETTER!

you're getting more from the intake with the shield on and the "dryer hose" there
than if there was no shield.
The warm air would mix with the cold and you'd suck in wamer air
than you would if the shield was on...

I hope that made sense.....
in short, keep the shield ON

LOL....My dad was like why don't you get the RK Sport Intake, they claim more horsepower gain, and it's alot cheaper. I told him that those horsepower gains are not accurate and I wanted the AEM CAI because it was Cold Air. That's pretty much the only other positivie right? Or is there some other reasons I can throw at him?
