Yuuuup.....Nothing has changed for our engine (Ecotec) right? Same for all J-bodies from what I hear.

I heard that you can disable the limiter by pulling the ABS fuse (they are supposedly on the same fuse) , but of course you loose abs functionality. (brakes still work, just work like non-abs) if you don't need the abs, it sure beats buying a higher limiter.
Don't own an ecotec yet, but like the motor a lot.
Current cavi has the 2.2 pushrod a.k.a. lack-O-tech

Want to make your cavalier go faster?
Just switch the wires on the MAE (Manifold Absolute Evil) sensor.
I mean, Mine has one, doesn't yours?

but what if your car didn't come with abs? will it still be on that same fused circuit, or will it be tied in with something else then? lol, i don't think it would be that simple to have a fuse labeled "speed limiter"--however nice that would be.

Jus do the VSS mod. hook a switch up to the purple or yellow wire coming off ur tranny and when u shut the switch off ull lose ur speedo but ull also lose the governer

First off find the idiot who told you this and hit them really hard.Second off it"s just not true. Why would GM do that, makes no sence. The Vss sensor has no fuse.It ties directly to the BCM and ECM.

If this was true what you do at 108+ if you needed to use those brakes you just disabled????? You ever tried to stop the car from 90 with the abs working???The brakes ain't all that good to begin with.

Peoples kids these days!!!!!!
Off subject I know, but someone in the thread mentioned the suposed benefits of ABS and I need to vent, so here goes:

I have never driven an American car that has an ABS system worth a S%#T. Truth is, I had forgoten how bad it was until I had the ABS on my 2004 Cavalier kicked in way early on my front right wheel a couple days ago. I'm convinced the GM system just pumps the brakes when the brake pedal is pushed to a certain level. That's definately not the system Bosch and Mercedes designed (the first ABS) that won so many suporters. The Bosch system wouldn't engage until a wheel stopped or skid (slower than the other wheels) then it would just unload (remove pressure) from that brake until the wheel started moving again. The problem with the GM system (if you've never experienced it) is you can end up pushing the brake pedel through the floorboard and the system won't apply the pressure to the calipers because it THINKS your skidding. I guess it helps bad drivers especially on snow, ice and maybe water; but it's a terrible system for a driver who knows how to modulate brakes by impending lockup, me! So just to let you all know, I haven't had my ABS fuse in since that last incident.

PS My next rant is about daytime running lights

Yeah, I'm glad I don't have ABS. I'll just upgrade the stock pads/rotors for now. If that's not enough, I'll look into those expensive big brake 4 wheel 12" disc kits. As for that VSS "mod", does the ECU throw a code when you do this, or is it undetectable?

If you have to ask, you dont know enough about the cars to worry about it. try modding your car to be able to handle 108+ speeds. You might learn something along the way...

Cav Fire has got a point

Our cars are not made for high speed runs, so if your gonna do it then start with other mods first.

And you'll stumble upon the VSS mod instructions somewhere during your research.

Hopefully you will figure out why the majority of us won't just out and tell you...........

Its always better to learn it yourself and learn why its put there before you disable it............. Just trying to help, not being a Jerk or anything bro
108+ what are your cars full of lead???

my 04 quad coup tops out at 125 but it is a manual trans mission and has W rated tires which is how gm does the governing see theres such a thing as speed ratings on tires so you eliminate the governor you better up grade your rubber

or its guna look mesy

Which is totally ghey, seeing how I am running Y rated rubber, have aftermarket springs/adjustable shocks, and have upgraded the stock brake pads/rotors(which suck)... These cars easily smack the speed limiter, at that speed, the engine still has lots of pull left.. I guess the stock squishy suspension, and crap 14" Goodyears are probably what make GM limit the speed to 107mph in J-Bodies. They should have a switch, or something, that can be activated, if you upgrade the problem areas.. Problem is, any idiot would do it.. Oh well.
